If you have already decided on the type of concrete sealer to use, it’s time to start with the project. Here are some tips for proper garage concrete sealer applications.
- Read the manufacturer’s instructions. Even if you have already applied concrete sealer before, take note that manufacturers can have varying instructions. When in doubt, call us through our number for clarifications and additional information.
- Free your garage floor from dust and other materials. Make sure that it is totally dry in order for the sealant to properly attach to the concrete. You would also get better results if your garage floor is somewhat porous. Otherwise, sand your garage floor or apply mild acid etch solution in order for the sealer to better penetrate to the concrete.
- Paste a painter’s tape at the edge of your wall to prevent having your wall smeared with concrete sealer.
- Use a lint-free roller. The most suitable rollers for garage floors are ¼” or 3/8”.
- Keep the roller with concrete sealer on a wet edge. This will prevent lap lines or roller marks. Do not run the roller on an area which has already cured because this will result to a blotched surface.
- If you have already covered the entire area with garage concrete sealer, allow it to dry more than the recommended hours for proper curing and also to allow sealer to penetrate your garage floor better.
